Fear Street: Prom Queen

A high school “loser” with a well-known family trauma wants to turn things around by winning prom queen, but her rivals and a masked killer are complicating the night’s events. This entry in the Fear Street hits all the right notes and gives us the tension and atmosphere of a 1988 prom. It’s fun, fast-paced, and gory - everything we love in a classic slasher.

As one of those weird kids that grew up reading RL Stine, I love the Fear Street series as it’s bringing the adolescent thrills and holding back few punches when it comes to the creepy and the blood splatter. Prom Queen may be my favorite of the series, as it gives nods to its inspirations, while delivering a tense and original story.
